Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne’s debut album, Let Go, sold 16 million sales in 2002. Since then, people have discovered that the Canadian singer/songwriter is a poor singer. Her voice has improved since the days of “Sk8er Boi,” but nothing can disguise the reality that Avril got lucky with a gimmick. For a few years, Avril was one of the leaders of the female pop-punk genre of the early 2000s. Music fans are sick of her weak vocals and off-key performances these days. Her self-titled album from 2013 sold barely 650,000 copies worldwide, a far cry from the millions of albums she sold during her peak.

Bono

Fans, we hear you! U2 puts on a fantastic show. They used to, at least. Yes, Bono is a powerful force for good in the world. We adore the story of two old school friends who went on to form one of the world’s biggest and most successful rock bands. But Bono as a lead singer? He’s like something out of a Kevin Costner film. Yes, Kevin has hit a couple home runs, but it sometimes feels like he’s phoning it in. The same may be said about Bono. Here’s an illustration: Remember when Bono was involved in a bike accident a few years ago? One of the appearances he had to cancel was on The Tonight Show. Instead, Jimmy and The Roots sang U2. Jimmy was, dare we say, comparable to the actual thing.
