Saluting
If ever someone salutes you on the street, please do not be taken aback. It is considered to be a common form of greeting in the military, so it is hard to stop doing it after service. When you get saluted by a soldier, the best course of action is to do the same thing!

No Kitchen
Soldiers don’t have a kitchen – they have a mess. Don’t be offended if that’s what they call yours! They will refer to even the cleanest kitchen in the same manner. That’s just how it is in the military.
