Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker
While refueling strategic bombers is a difficult task, the KC-135 Stratotanker is up to the task. During the Vietnam War, this aircraft was heavily used by the Americans, and it proved to be a significant strategic asset during Operation Desert Storm. The Boeing 707 and the KC-135 were both developed from the Boeing 367-80. The 136-foot Boeing KC-135 was revolutionary in that it was the United States Air Force’s first jet-powered refueling tanker.
NASA Super Guppy
The Pregnant Guppy was replaced by this plane, which was the first ever made by Aero Spacelines. A quick glance at it reveals that it was built for cargo. Five planes were built in each of the Guppy’s two variants, both of which were dubbed “Super Guppy,” and all of them are still in service today. We won’t go there because it’s self-evident how this plane got its name.
