Convair B-36 Peacemaker
The Convair B-36 Peacemaker was used by the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1959, and despite its short lifespan, it is still the largest piston-engined aircraft ever mass-produced. The B-36 had the longest wingspan of any combat aircraft built at 230 feet. This aircraft was unique in that it could transport any nuclear weapons in the United States’ arsenals at the time without requiring any modifications. However, the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress eventually replaced the B-36 in the late 1950s.
Boeing C-17 Globemaster III
The C-17 Globemaster III is one of the largest military planes ever built. It took to the air for the first time in 1991, and production lasted until 2015. It was developed for the United States Air Force by McDonnell Douglas and cost $218 million per unit. Tactical and strategic airlift missions were carried out by the Globemaster III. This frequently included airdrops of people or heavy machinery, as well as emergency medical evacuations, making it an absolute beast.
