Antonov AN-225 Mriya
This strategic airlift cargo plane, which is the heaviest and longest plane ever built, was powered by six turbofan engines. In the 1980s, it was designed to transport the Soviet Union’s Buran spaceplane. Its maximum takeoff weight is 640 tons. The Antonov AN-225 has the longest wingspan of any aircraft currently in service around the world.

Ilyushin Il-76
Built during the most tense period of the Cold War, this aircraft has remained in service until now, with over 1,000 still in use around the world. The Ilyushin II-76, a four-engine turbofan airlifter developed for the Soviet Union, was originally intended for commercial freight but ended up being used by the Russian military. This aircraft is capable of transporting some of the world’s most powerful military vehicles and equipment.
