Maximilien Robespierre
Maximilien Robespierre is a French lawyer and Politian linked to the French Revolution. He advocated for religious tolerance, universal manhood suffrage, the abolition of slavery, and the abolition of celibacy. He was a huge figure in the establishment of the First French Republic and got elected deputy to the National Convention. He was also important in during the “Reign of Terror”.
What Maximilien Robespierre Really Looked Like
A forensic pathologist called Philippe Charlier and a facial reconstruction specialist called Philippe Froesch teamed up to create a rendering of this French Revolution poster boy. Apart from the artwork depicting him, they used his death mask that was allegedly created by Madame Tussaud! She created it based on his decapitated head. Robespierre was guillotined on July 28, 1794.
