It’s hard to imagine that initially, producers cast anyone but Tom Selleck for the role of Thomas in Magnum, P.I. However, that’s exactly what happened. First, the producers agreed that TV star Kevin Dobson would play the lead role. He ended up turning down the role, wanting his career to go in a different direction. That’s how Selleck was able to get that career changing role!
