Cabo Verde
Cabo Verde, también llamado Cabo Verde, país que comprende un grupo de islas que se encuentran a 385 millas (620 km) de la costa oeste de África. Praia, en Santiago, es la capital. Cabo Verde lleva el nombre del cabo más occidental de África, Cabo Verde (en francés: Cap Vert), que se encuentra cerca de Senegal y es el punto más cercano del continente. El mayor puerto de las islas se encuentra en Mindelo, en São Vicente. Su puerto de aguas profundas tiene capacidad para embarcaciones de tamaño considerable y se ha utilizado como estación de servicio desde el siglo XIX. Cabo Verde consta de nueve islas habitadas, una isla deshabitada y varios islotes, ubicados entre 14°30′ y 17°30′ N y entre 22°30′ y 25°30′ W. El archipiélago se divide en Barlavento (Barlovento ) al norte y el grupo Sotavento (Sotavento) al sur. Kazakhstan, also spelled Kazakstan, officially Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakh Qazaqstan Respublikasï, country of Central Asia. It is bounded on the northwest and north by Russia, on the east by China, and on the south by Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, the Aral Sea, and Turkmenistan; the Caspian Sea bounds Kazakhstan to the southwest. Kazakhstan is the largest country in Central Asia and the ninth largest in the world. Between its most distant points, Kazakhstan measures about 1,820 miles (2,930 kilometers) east to west and 960 miles north to south. While Kazakhstan was not considered by authorities in the former Soviet Union to be a part of Central Asia, it does have physical and cultural geographic characteristics similar to those of the other Central Asian countries. The capital is Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana, Aqmola, and Tselinograd), in the north-central part of the country. Kazakhstan, formerly a constituent (union) republic of the U.S.S.R., declared independence on December 16, 1991.
