We bet you will not find standing “at ease” very comfortable – at least not right away. Soldiers will take this stance for a significant amount of time, which is why they eventually find it comfortable. Many will retain this posture even when they are done with service!

Soldiers know just how important it is to treat everyone with respect. The status of the person they are talking to does not matter. Be it a CEO, the milkman, a flower lady, men will be called ‘sir’ and women will be called ‘ma’am’.
