Whoopi has also used her platform for activism for causes close to her heart. Goldberg advocates for human rights, moderating a panel at the Alliance of Youth Movements Summit so she can explain how to use social networks against violent extremism. Additionally, Goldberg has moderated a panel at the UN on human rights, terrorism and children in armed conflict, alongside other major issues.

LGBT Activism
Cyndi Lauper launched a campaign in 2010 called “Give a Damn” in 2010, with the goal of bringing wider awareness of discrimination towards the LGBT community. Whoopi joined her in the launch and publicly invited straight people to become allies of the LGBT community. Goldberg has rallied for the LGBT community many times. For example, she also participated in the 1987 March on Washington.
