After some time, Hoda Kotb eventually got the opportunity to work with Savannah Guthrie permanently. In the winter of 2017, Matt Lauer made his controversial departure from the program. It was then announced that he would be replaced by the Egyptian-American talent. This was a pretty historic event as this was the first time that the main anchors of the show would both be women!
