David’s father was not present for the event. He had run away from Haily just as she was about to give birth to David. He had never attempted to contact them or set up a meeting with his son. Haily despised him because of this. She found it impossible to imagine her son being raised without his father. But since Jonah is Haily’s father, he stepped in and turned into the perfect role model for his grandson to imitate.

Haily would take David to her parents’ house on Wednesdays so that she could have a day alone without him. She was homesick for David, therefore she did not fully enjoy it, but she was aware of its advantages for her. She would either go to the gym to work out or spend time with Rose, her sister’s best friend.
