TERN Program
Fair enough, there a ton of small unmanned aerial vehicles used in the military. However, not all of them could be used on small decks and rough seas. This is where the TERN Program by DARPA comes in. The name is short for “Tactically Exploited Reconnaissance Node,” although it is cool that it brings a seabird to mind. It aims to fill in the niche by introducing an aircraft that can both land and take off on its tail.
