It Was Once A Battleground
In case you did not know, the Eastern Estonia Narva front was the site of intense battles. Sadly, it saw 100,000 soldiers die and over 300,000 get injured. The forces kept moving, so soldiers and tanks alike flooded into this narrow and swampy area. The last of these battles happened on August 3. The Soviets came in with armor and artillery to attack the Germans, but not much changed even a week later.
A Trophy Tank
The German troops captured this ‘Trophy Tank’ during the Battle of the Blue Mountains in the summer of 1944. What truly makes this tank so fascinating was the fact that it was used by both the Germans and the Soviets in the Second World War. Sadly, it ended up going into its watery grave six weeks later.
