Beards
Mustaches are uncommon among older Amish men, despite the prevalence of long beards. Beards are acceptable, whereas mustaches are frowned upon, due to the prevalence of beards among biblical men. It’s not unusual to come across an Amish man sporting a thick beard.

Believer’s Baptism
“Believer’s baptism” is one of the traditional Amish practices, a baptism for those who have reached the age of adulthood. It is not uncommon to hear the term “adult baptism” when referring to the sacrament of Christian initiation of a believer. When a child is old enough to sincerely declare their faith, they are baptized as a follower. This idea was spawned by the Christian movement known as Anabaptism.
