Frozen But Alive
Scientists have discovered that not everything found in the ice is dead. This was also the situation with the next find. These discoveries aren’t often due to freezing mishaps, but rather to natural changes in the environment. Alligators, for example, can survive in subzero temperatures for a period of time. On the other hand, frostbite will almost certainly kill you and me. They can survive these erratic temperatures thanks to this frozen state of brief hibernation. If only we were capable of doing the same.
Is It A Plane?
It’s also not uncommon to come across smashed technology in ice. Even when it does occur, it still comes as a complete shock. This jet was supposed to be headed towards Anchorage, Alaska in 1952, but instead crashed on a glacier! It was reported that 11 crew members and 41 passengers died as a result. Furthermore, the hazardous conditions made retrieving the wreckage impossible for rescuers and police authorities. After the glacier melted enough for a recovery mission to be launched, it took another 50 years.
