The Melting Is Speeding Up
Let’s take a peek at the Italian Alps’ Forni glacier. According to the Guardian, it has melted by more than a mile during the last century. What’s more concerning is that the process is accelerating. Only the last thirty years or so have seen half of that. The melting of the ice has caused numerous issues.
It Has Also Caused Accidents
Onlookers witnessed the melting glacier create the Val Pola landslide in 1987, which killed dozens of people in this part of the Italian Alps. Climate change has also had an impact on the region’s flora and fauna, according to experts. The National Park’s Luca Pedrotti told the Guardian more about it.
