By April 2021, the scientists had recovered over 300 relics from the ancient site. Postcards, clothes, letters, and other personal belongings of the soldiers were discovered. Coins, newspapers, and lanterns were also found within. However, the researchers recognized that living in the barracks during the fighting was difficult.
