Janis Joplin Stayed
Janis Joplin was another icon that attended Woodstock. Her set was worth $7,500! Most people remember her rendition of her hit song “Piece of My Heart.” Aside from that, on the second day, she sang additional songs. The entire band had arrived via chopper. She instructed the other members to perform as if it were a regular gig, according to the other members. She stayed after the show to enjoy the festival with the rest of the attendees!
A Surprise John Sebastian Set
The Lovin’ Spoonful was a four-piece rock band from the 1960s that is now inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. John Sebastian, the band’s founder, was not set to perform at Woodstock. He went to watch from the sidelines. He agreed to play when the festival’s organizers approached him. He played three unpublished songs as well as two more as an acoustic guitar player.
