Meritamun
Meritamun means “beloved of the god Amun”. University of Melbourne researchers introduced the queen to us after they went through the archives and found her skull. She hailed from ancient Egypt, so it was rather perplexing to find her skull on the other side of the globe. She was one of Pharaoh Ramesses the Great’s Great Royal Wives. The Valley of the Queens served as her burial place.
What Meritamun Really Looked Like
The researchers did not find a lot about her since the skull was the only thing they had. However, they found out her age when she died. They estimated that she was around 18 to 25 years old back then, but they still have yet to figure out what caused her death. They found out that she liked sweets thanks to her tooth decay. Alexander the Great first introduced sugar to Egypt during her lifetime, so it fits!
