Remove Wax & Polish Buildup With Vinegar

To remove furniture polish or wax that has accumulated on wood furniture or leather tabletops, use diluted white vinegar. To remove built-up shine off wood furniture, soak a cloth in equal parts vinegar and water and squeeze thoroughly. The polish should then be removed, working in the direction of the grain. Wipe the surface dry with a gentle towel or cloth. A soft cloth soaked in 1/4 cup vinegar and 1/2 cup water can be used to clean the majority of leather tabletops. Using a clean towel, blot up any remaining liquid.
