It was evident that Musya wanted to be the mother of the eight hedgehog babies. Though she was amazed, Alice did not think it was a good idea. The kittens could get hurt by the pricks of their siblings from another animal, after all. She broke them up again, but the hedgehogs resisted trying to feed them in the bottle.

Although Alice realized that it was not a good idea to hold the animals together, Musya decided to take care of all the babies. Not long after this, Alice ultimately discovered where the hedgehogs came from. Perhaps their mom had an accident inside the zoo. She remembered a specific instance that involved a lawnmower.
