MARSHA HUNT, 101 YEARS OLD
A retired American actress, model, and activist, Marsha Hunt had a career that spanned over 70 years. In the 1950s, she was actually blacklisted in Hollywood. However, she still appeared in many movies. During the time she was blacklisted, she became an activist for world hunger and promoting peace in third-world countries, among other noble causes.
DIAHANN CARROLL, 83 YEARS OLD
Diahann Carroll is a true inspiration to all the African-American women who wish to embark on a career in the entertainment industry. For starters, she was the first non-white woman to have starred in a TV show. That’s right – we are talking about her performance in Julia. Her amazing portrayal is even more impressive now that you know it was not the norm at the time. Over the years, she has received many nominations and awards, although she had to go through a different challenge later in life. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and you can bet that we are glad she was able to fight the disease. The star retired from acting in 2014.
