The Calm Before The Storm
What happened was what you can call the calm before the tempest. It was a sunny day with very calm waters. Although they had to sail a few miles, the spot they went to was the best place for catching great crabs.

Dropping Their Baskets
The three friends turned off their engines upon reaching the spot. It was always their best spot for catching crabs and they were hopeful that it still is for this day. They then prepared and dropped their crab traps carefully, at a spot that they hoped had plenty of these crustaceans. Now all they had to do was wait for their baskets to be filled.
