Just three years before he was born, Giannis’ parents moved from Lagos, Nigeria. Charles, his father, was a former Nigerian association football player. Veronica, his mother, is a former high jumper. His dad passed away at age 54 back in 2017.

Full Citizenship
While Giannis was born in Sepolia, Athens and learned in Greek school, he and all his brothers didn’t automatically qualify to get full Greek citizenship. For 18 years, he had no country. That was, until May 2013, when he officially became a Greek citizen.
