You might have noticed a dog freezing up and nudging their snout toward something. They might have lifted a front paw as well. Apparently, this is a common thing that dogs do, especially hunting breeds. Dr. Ellen Vindell explained, “Dogs are just dogs, and there are certain behaviors that probably any dog that’s a dog can do…. You’ll see a sporting dog who circles like a herding dog, and you’ll get some herding dogs who point.”
