The Perfect Mascot
Jake the dog seemed to be the ideal candidate for the role of mascot for the upcoming book fair that Mrs Nabors was in charge of organizing. The kids, who were fans of Jake, responded positively and enthusiastically to the catchphrase “Paws for a Good Book,” which was hilariously comical and worked really well. However, the children’s day was made significantly better by the arrival of the puppy in more ways than one. We have all heard that having a dog around may have a slight influence on the attitudes and actions of people. Jake was a positive role model for the other students in the school, which benefited everyone.

There was no question that the presence of Jake had inspired optimism in a few of the children. They might not have understood the significance of the event at the time, but they needed to have exposure to things like interacting with the dog. A dog has the ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face, and it may even help someone who is clinically sad laugh and momentarily forget their worries. Jake may have been the first dog to ever represent the school, but he was certainly not the last. Dottie, a service dog, is one example of the dozens that have occurred. Even though Jake considers himself to be the most important student at Jefferson Elementary, we have high hopes that he will be willing to share the limelight.
