Second Grade Students
It is far too easy for children to get their hands on things that are potentially dangerous or unlawful and that should only be handled by adults. On the other hand, it’s hard to imagine how a little child could get their hands on something that could hurt them. Mrs Nabors, who teaches second grade at Jefferson Elementary, is certain that all of her students have a good understanding of the kinds of items they are not authorized to bring to school. This provides an explanation for why she did not conduct a thorough search that morning. Up until that point, she had never come across anything that was upsetting.

The children were made aware of the approaching book fair by the announcements that were made in the morning. The youngsters were giddy with excitement since the event was a lot of fun and there were a number of exciting books that they wanted to get their hands on. As a result of the diversion and the frenzied activity that was taking place all around Mrs Nabors, she did not check her children’s bags as early as she normally would have.
