Rumspringa
Rumspringa is a rite of passage that allows Amish teenagers to mingle with people from other cultures when they reach adolescence. In some cases, Amish children are permitted to leave their homes to engage in extracurricular activities that are strictly prohibited at home.

Normal Marriages
The Amish do not have arranged marriages, contrary to popular belief. The majority of Amish marriages are based on long-standing customs of courtship and dating. Parents or other middlemen are not involved in the process of helping a child choose a spouse. To be baptized into an Amish denomination, a young person must marry a member of that denomination.
